The Dounreay Story

 

Dounreay is an important part of the UK's scientific and industrial history and a major element in the socio-economic history of Caithness.  We will give you the chance to hear the story of its development, the activities that took place on the site over a period of more than 40 years, its environmental impact and provide an understanding of the site's impact on the North Highland community.

 

Equally important is the story of the steps that need to be taken and the challenges to be faced to decommission and restore the site. 

 

Looking to the future

 

We will also be looking to the future and exploring how to use the environment in a sustainable way so that we leave behind an outstanding environment for future generations to enjoy.
